Reported on multiple blogs, a question posed at a recent energy hearing by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse:

WHITEHOUSE: Gentlemen, we’re in the middle of a near total mortgage system meltdown in this country. We have a health care system that burns 16 percent of our GDP, in which the Medicare liability alone has been estimated at $34 trillion. We’re burning $10 billion a month in Iraq.

Yesterday, I spoke to the local PFlag Chapter about the upcoming election, and what I believe to be at stake. I may sound a bit shrill (BIG surprise to those who know me!), but....Anyway, here were my thoughts:

In a sure sign of the impending Apocalypse, Karl Rove, the architect of some of the sleaziest political campaigns in recent memory, has warned both campaigns that they were moving out of bounds. This from his Fox News comments:
