Gail Collins on Sarah Palin and the GOP

Sheila Suess Kennedy | 09/04/2008 - 15:54

Gail Collins ends her column today by saying:

For all her great skills at presentation, many people, including some Republicans who think the microphone is off, believe that Sarah Palin is a terrible choice for running mate. But you have to remember who the other options were.

Go read the whole thing. It is Collins at her absolute, snarkiest best.

I'm in Arizona which, given the steaming pile of silence my questions to the locals about their beloved Maverick have been met with, doesn't seem to like John-John as much as West Caribou Screw, Alaska like Sarah Palin. I sat with my best gal pal, reading this article out loud in a local installation of the Print-Beverage Industrial Complex (um, Borders?) and scanning the crowd (in case I needed to ditch Carol and beat an ignominious retreat -- sorry, girl!).

People were grinning. One woman at the counter commented that she and her friends didn't recognize the McCain of 2008. Seems the peeps of West Caribou Screw with their 25% drop in approval are starting to have the same trouble with Sarah P.

Yes. She is knowledgable and has already established good relations with foreign heads of state.

No. Nothing against Hillary, but Bill is a loose canon and would be a constant distraction and/or embarrassment.
