National Day of Climate Action

Bil Browning | 04/12/2007 - 11:57

Saturday, April 14 is National Day of Climate Action. More than 1000 communities will join by hosting events with the same message demanding that Congress take action to cut carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. This sounds like a lot, but it amounts to a modest 2% reduction every year.

The Hoosier Environmental Council is working with the Main Academy America and the Purdue University Green Roof Initiative to host two rallies in the Lafayette area. Concerned citizens are invited to join in for one or both events!!

LAFAYETTE - RIEHLE PLAZA at Noon
West Lafayette Mayor Jan Mills and Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski will be on hand with an exciting announcement about the steps our local government will take to help stop global warming! Please help to cheer them on! They will also be talking about what individuals and businesses can do to assist.

WEST LAFAYETTE - PURDUE CAMPUS at 2 PM
Step It Up will have a booth with the Purdue University Green Roof Initiative. At 2pm we will give away free compact fluorescent light bulbs to the first 100 people who sign the Hoosier Environmental Council's Clean Energy Household Pledge!

Poll
Will the Choice of Biden and not Bayh Make it Harder for Obama to Win Indiana?
Yes. Evan Bayh would have energized Indiana Democrats and "tipped" the state.
0%
Maybe. But choosing Bayh would have made it much, much harder to win the election.
71%
No. Indiana voters know Bayh, and choosing him would have reflected poorly on Obama's judgment.
29%
Hard to say.
