Insurance Rescission

christopher stack | 12/04/2007 - 13:55

I apologize for the long absence from the healthcare blogosphere. It has been a couple of months since you have heard from me. Oddly enough, health care does remain on the agenda.......Here is something interesting that came across the wires recently, reported by the American Medical News: several large California insurers are paying fines to the state for compensating (read: rewarding) their employees for canceling policies, a tactic to control costs known as "rescission." Health Net is the most recent, agreeing to pay $1M to the state. Earlier this year, a WellPoint plan paid $1.2M for the same activity and Blue Cross settled lawsuits with 6000 policyholders over the same issue.

Remember the term rescission. It could happen to you. If it does, don't take it lying down....fight for your coverage, you are paying exorbitantly for it.
