Shut Up!

Did anyone see Pat Buchanan vehemently tell co-panelist, Keli Goff to just "shut up" on the Dan Abrams show earlier this evening? Kelli, Pat and Rachel Maddow were discussing Geraldine Ferraro's comments about Barack Obama's apparent "special benefits card" which curses those who are against him with The Scarlet R (racist)? The gist of the segment was how the Clinton campaign didn't show leadership by strongly denouncing Ferraro's comments.

Pat Buchanan continued to talk over the top of panelist, Keli Goff throughout the segment. When he told her loudly and forcefully to “Shut up” it wasn’t Dan Abrams who showed leadership by denouncing Buchanan’s comments—it was Rachel Maddow who reminded Buchanan that she’d been on numerous shows with him in the past and that he’d never used that kind of language with anyone. Abrams sat in stunned silence.

Guess one can see how
Clinton could swing and miss about Ferraro’s comments. At least she took a swing. Abrams didn’t even step up to the plate.

I'll say it here: this campaign is going to destroy what's good about the the Democratic Party. Two of the biggest distinguishing elements of the party--race and gender equaity--are being used by the candidates and their surrogates as a point of division to get votes.

Rather than putting up the minute or two of the actual interchange, I'm including the entire 6 minutes of this interation.

Watch it for yourself.
