Bill O'Reilly Goes After Another Black Pastor

Lalita Amos | 03/20/2008 - 08:56

I was driving home last night, flipping through my Sirius radio (I'd had enough of Finger Eleven, the Clash, Talking Heads and, uh, Justin Timberlake--don't hate). Thinking I was in the talk radio segment, I was surprised to hear a Black pastor's voice booming from my radio. When I looked at the screen (a careful glance with hands at 10 and 2), I was shocked to find that I was listening to Bill O'Reilly.

He's going after another Black pastor.

This time, his target is James Meeks, a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 15th district since '03. He's also pastor of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, which has grown from 200 to over 24,000 members under his care.

Here's the piece that O'Reilly played (I found the original report on this piece on Youtube). Listen for yourself (he's referring to Mayor Daly, who later obfuscated Meeks' core message by trying to enhance a dust-up over his use of the word "nigger" (by the by, I don't use letter-word euphemisms--reading these kinds of words is supposed to make us uncomfortable and remind us that they are still being hurled at people in hate and rage):

Bill O'Reilly signed off the piece on his show with his promise that he'll continue to develop this story.

This just isn't going to stop.
