Just How Bad Do You Suppose this Is Going to Get?

And while we're picking apart every jot and tittle of Obama's speech, China Cuts Off Access to Western News Sites:

Over the past week of uprisings in Tibet, the Chinese government has cut access to Western media websites to keep the Chinese people from finding out how serious the crisis has been. James Fallows of Atlantic Monthly explains how China's "Great Firewall" works. Listen to this NPR report yourself

Sad, given that the people of Taiwan are headed for the polls today to elect a new president. The unrest in Tibet, and the government's crackdown on dissidents may actually help underdog candidates. One ballot initiative is a referendum on whether Taiwan should try for its own U.N. membership independent of China.

Of course, they're cutting off press access. Wouldn't want the outside world to see what happens during the voting process. Given that we're in hock to the Chinese government (aka the US Bank of China), I'm just not sure how we could pressure China to moderation or fairness anyway.

Damn!

Poll
Will the Choice of Biden and not Bayh Make it Harder for Obama to Win Indiana?
Yes. Evan Bayh would have energized Indiana Democrats and "tipped" the state.
0%
Maybe. But choosing Bayh would have made it much, much harder to win the election.
60%
No. Indiana voters know Bayh, and choosing him would have reflected poorly on Obama's judgment.
40%
Hard to say.
