I'm perplexed. In a world where Senator Obama's every move is being parsed for evidence (real or imagined) of Islamofacism and his relationships dissected, Senator Clinton's being given what seems to be a pass (at least from the hysterical media) for her "misspeaking" about the level of danger that she and daughter, Chelsea (oh, and comic Sinbad...and singer Cheryl Crow) were subjected to.

What's up here? Really.

I'd wondered why Mrs. Clinton was silent on the issue of Mr. Obama and his recent troubles. At first, I thought it was a tasteful effort on her part to shift the discussion back to the issues.

And yes, I do believe in the Easter Bunny and that when Jesus returns He'll pop out of a box of Peeps.

Here's what she said about what she would have done if her pastor had drifted into the uncomfortably radical:

As it turns out, Hillary Clinton may be every bit as exposed as Barack Obama. Her long-time membership in a secretive Capital Hill group, "the Fellowship" (also called "the Family"), a very right-leaning (sometimes called "facist") religious organization with some unsavory beliefs that are plenty radical in and of themselves, may cause her some heartburn now that the media has gotten wond of the story.

I'd like her to speak on that, as long as we're chatting it up about religion.

Actually, no, I wouldn't. Looking back at that sentence, I realize I don't want her to defend her religious views. She can believe in the spiritual Manifest Destiny that only Christians will enjoy, belong to groups that sex segregate (and have the women serve the men). Hell, she can worship the Great Egg for all I care.

What I want to know from both Democratic candidates is this: What the hell are you going to do to advance American and how will you pay for it?

Enough aleady.
