New TSA Scanner Makes Clothes Invisible

Lalita Amos | 05/03/2008 - 22:29

I'm still on vaycay and imagine my shock when I read this:

New TSA Scanner Makes Clothes Invisible - This past week, the Transportation Security Administration introduced new security measures at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, including a controversial "whole-body scanner." The scanner provides guards with an image that strips away a traveler's clothing, revealing everything that person is carrying — and their naked bodies. TSA spokesperson Christopher White shows Andrea Seabrook how it works. (Emphasis added)

Scanners that render one, essentially, naked! How the hell can they square this with individual rights...like the right not to be oogled. Starlets can't seem to keep their mug shots out of the news. Now, I guess we get to see the ghosts of their silicone implants to boot.

I guess this is better, though, than the cavity search that right now cannot be that far off.
