The Death Penalty

Sheila Suess Kennedy | 05/20/2008 - 13:45

This Thursday at 7 PM, InCASE and Law Students Against Capital Punishment are screening a new documentary, At the Death House Door, which will be followed by a panel discussion with several criminal justice experts: Dr. Crystal Garcia from IUPUI: SPEA, Marion County Chief Public Defender Robert Hill and Rodney Cummings from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. The screening is in IU – Indianapolis Law School’s Wynne Courtroom.

The death penalty is not often discussed nor is it a simple topic to examine. However, it is the highest penalty that we as a society carry out: the ending of a life. This being the case, the death penalty deserves nothing less than the highest degree of scrutiny that we can muster, challenging its necessity and effectiveness as a means of delivering justice. This film and discussion will be a valuable forum to address this complex topic and get some answers from those who have been directly involved in the process.

The documentary’s trailer and more information can be found online at the InCASE blog.

No. Nothing against Hillary, but Bill is a loose canon and would be a constant distraction and/or embarrassment.
