Have you seen the commercials? Have you visited his website? T. Boone Pickens the oil tycoon is going to save us all from the bad old oil companies..........wait a minute? What's wrong with this picture?

He is proposing converting the US car and truck driving population to convert their cars to running on compressed natural gas and by the way lets buils zillions of wind turbines, that he will own and get paid subsidized rates for the power.

Yes compressed natural gas should be aggressively pursued faser than hydrogen fuels cells or anything else.

We already have natural gas to probably 90% of the country. You can buy a compressor for your garage and fill you own car overnight for pennies and not need an expensive hybrid, or batteries, or the battery waste stream or some new magic carpet.

But remember, natural gas wells are usually colocated with oil wells and that's right T. Boone has a bunch of them.

He is also building something like 4000 MW of wind turbines on one "wind farm" 4000 megawatts selling for about $50 per megawatt hour means $200,000 per hour for every hour of operation. If they run half the time or about 4000 hours a year that is a mere $800,000,000 a year.

You think you understand why he like the idea.

Let's say this wind farm has 1000 wind turbines that cost $1million each to buy and install, which is high, that is $1,000,000,000 invested. That will take him 15 months to recoup his investment and the rest, as they say is gravy!

Now that is an over simplification. There are maintenance costs, and distribution costs, but he really isn't being as altruistic as he is making himself out to be.
