American Values Alliance | Practical voice for progressive valuesA religion scholar with the Martin Marty Institute at the University of Chicago recently mused about a new website, Youvebeenleftbehind.com. Evidently, for forty dollars a year, "those who are relatively assured of their own salvation can leave a final e-mail to less fortunate loved ones who might be left behind during the rapture.
"A new web site, Youvebeenleftbehind.com, allows users to compose a final message that will be sent to up to sixty-two recipients, six days after the rapture occurs. These messages might be used to pass on information, such as bank account numbers and passwords, but the site stresses the opportunity to leave a letter begging those who remain to accept Christ, a last chance with one's loved ones to "snatch them from the flames." This raises a host of questions, both practical and religious. Is it safe to store sensitive financial information on such a website (answer: no)? Would the web still function after the rapture? Why not play it safe, save the forty dollars, and simply leave a stack of letters on your desk?"

HAHAHA! Lalita is that the shape of Noe or the district. Both I think.
...that looks like a demented porpoise? Glad you have Cindy and the prophet to save you.

Hilarious... If someone had told me about it I wouldn't have believed it.
(oh and I just came across this site and immediately thought of sitting in your classes a few years back Sheila- I had to laugh when I noticed the next thing I read was by you.)

I shall not worry. I live in House District 87 where Cindy Noe and her prophet husband will save me. So sorry for the rest of you people that live in those evil other districts.
I feel so blessed.
It is my opinion that anybody who buys into this site will certainly be able to rue the day, if "the Rapture" occurs. I believe that almost all of those people who really think that they are going home that day are going to be in for a very rude shock.
On a related note, anybody who thinks this website is a really good idea should really check out sendvarangianguardtotahiti.com. For a mere $30 a year, you can be assured that I will try to remember to aid and assist your loved ones after "the Rapture" with recovering lost assets and the provision of handy tips for a wide variety of topics, like "how to tell the Devil to go to Hell".
"In the event of Rapture, this website will either (1) produce an error message saying "URL Not Found", in which case you will know we are among the Saved, or (2) this website will continue to function normally, in which case like you, the reader, will know we've missed the eternal Train, or (3) everyone who voted concerning the question concerning Obama's speech in front of the Brandenberg Gate asked for more Rush Limbaugh videos. In the latter case, the Rapture will have been postponed until the end of his new multi-zillion dollar contract."
OK, so I ran right over to the site. My sister-in-law, a piously-reformed bad girl with 20 home-schooled children (OK, 4) has been praying that I "see the light" for years. I wanted to see what she'll be looking at when she signs up for this site and puts me on the list.
