Here's the conclusion of the majority decision affirming the right of California gay couples to marry:

At 10:00 a.m. (Pacific time) Thursday, the California Supreme Court will render its decision in the Golden State's same-sex marriage litigation.

The other day, I posted a story from the New York Times (UPDATE: link to previous story added) about a friend of mine, Dan Pinello, and his long-time partner, who had challenged New York State's refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples by appearing at

sent me a link to this NYTimes story about him and his partner.

And you thought college professors were dull!

I heard this story this morning and felt a little "off" all day. It's part one of a story about sexual identity and how it manifests in transgendered children and what two sets of parents did in support of their very young sons--as young as 2 or 3.

There may be a silver lining in the recent decision of the Michigan Supreme Court to erase domestic partnership benefits for same-sex couples under its new "Marriage Protection" constitutional amendment. Before it passed the folks of the Rightous Right told everyone in state wide ads and elsewhere that such benefits wouldn't be touched. Then after passage they flipped 180 degrees and argued the opposite in court. That silver lining is that it's waking up people to the fact that such "bait and switch" tactics work. Gary Welsh writes about this in Advance Indiana, and I cover the same territory for Indiana Equality here. If and when a successor to SJR7 in Indiana comes back next year, don't say we didn't warn you.

There's a lively debate between me and the American Family Association's Micah Clark going on at Veritas Rex, the blogsite of the Indiana Family Institute.

I was reading Wired magazine--a tech geek mag I've been reading online for over a decade and in print, strangely, for just two years--when I saw it:

There's this story I remember from college. I wrote about it in another context on another blog, but it bears repeating, at least in part, here:

Hat tip to The Bilerico Project for snagging this great post from Senator Obama. Here's a snippet:

I've been waiting, hopefully, for the voices of our "Black leadership" to come out strongly against this brutal killing.

Nothing. This from The Root:

I got to moderate the candidate forum sponsored by Indiana Equality, HRC and others at the Jesus MCC Church last night. If you are interested in my "take" on it, I've posted an analysis here.

NPR heralded the news that the Writers Were Set to Vote on a Strike Deal that would garner them some reimbursement for works that appeared on the Web.

I'm not sure if I still care.

For those of you who don't know, Bil Browning, co-founder of the highly successful Bilerico Project, has turned his ad hoc blog into a well-known, highly sought-after web portal for the hearts and minds of the LGBT community. Read this from the Indy Star and congratulations, Bil!
