Civility & Fair Play

The feeling of nausea that has overcome me at 4a.m. this morning, isn't due to the fact I'm finishing up a rather long (12 hour) night shift, nor is it due to the chinese food from about 6 hours ago that I probably should have put in the refridgerator some time ago. It's the sort of nausea that envelopes not only ones stomach, but ones soul as well...

This morning I watched a newsclip of President Bush’s Tuesday press conference (the one that bumped Bad-News Bernanke off the air). At one point, as he defensively answered reporters’ questions about the economy, he made a disdainful remark about MoveOn.org.

I don’t even remember exactly what he said—what struck me and has stayed with me all day was his disdain. Has he ever, do you suppose, considered that the people who make up MoveOn.org are also American citizens, and that he is also answerable to them? I can’t remember a president in my entire lifetime who publicly exhibited such hostility toward people who disagreed with him. His entire demeanor seemed to say, “you don’t like me, fuck you.”

That would be fine if he wasn’t the leader of our country, which implies he should have a few leadership skills. He simply does not. He doesn’t even have enough basic poise to hide his contempt for ordinary Americans who disagree with his policies.

Over at Dangerous Intersection, Eric Vieth has an interesting post on hecklers.

On Veritas Rex, someone named Ryan McCann posted the following diatribe, which I can attest is a VERY typical accusation about that awful, unpatriotic, anti-Christian ACLU:

From a post on MyDD, a blog which has been fervently--even rabidly--pro-Hillary:

"This must now end.

Hillary Clinton's most recent explanation of why she remains in the race is...believe it or not..that like Bobby Kennedy, Barack Obama could be assassinated.

This is beyond disgusting.

A Texas appeals court ruled unanimously that the state of Texas overstepped its bounds by seizing 468 children from the "polygamist compound" of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints. The court was right: Texas Family and Protective services overstepped their bounds.

One of the talking points of the Democratic Party rewritten here is:

"The Democratic Party will end the Republican Culture of corruption and restore a government as good as the people it serves."

Does this promise apply to other Dems and Demogogues as well? I certainly hope so. Since I don't believe the "culture of"corruption" exist exclusively amongst Republicans.

I listen to Morning Joe before starting my workday, but then, I watch O'Reilly and Glen Beck--when I can keep my ears from bleeding--and haven been known to visit hate group sites, just so's I know what they're up to, ya'll.

As I sit here, I find something eerily similar between the Clinton campaign and what can now only be called the Reverend Wright campaign. Both seem to operate from the view that if they don't get what they want, they get to ruin it for the other guy.

I was watching Morning Joe (I like a side of indigestion with my morning smoothie). For six weeks, Scarborough has been touting what looked like a Clinton blowout with poll numbers having her lead Obama by 20 or more points.

I chose to post this article in the category of civility and fairplay despite my impression that there has been little of either in regards to the 'child's play of both opponents of presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama. But I did come across an excellent treatment of the ill-fated "bitter" conversation.
