Roll of Shame

WOW... I just caught this as I was getting ready to get off here and go to bed. I'll have to post more later about it, but I thought it was certainly worth sharing before I nod off...

Back to the Drawing Board for Disney’s First Black Princess

The feeling of nausea that has overcome me at 4a.m. this morning, isn't due to the fact I'm finishing up a rather long (12 hour) night shift, nor is it due to the chinese food from about 6 hours ago that I probably should have put in the refridgerator some time ago. It's the sort of nausea that envelopes not only ones stomach, but ones soul as well...

Is it not a rather fantastic historical irony that the torture techniques that the North Vietnamese used against McCain that forced him to offer a videotaped false confession ... are now the techniques the Bush administration is using to gain "intelligence" about terror networks.

I came across this little nugget in an unrelated post, and it brought me up short.
"Regnery got its start publishing tracts against the Nuremberg trials that pressed war crimes charges against Nazi leaders."

Here's talkshow pundit, Mr. Glenn Beck, holding forth on Senator Hillary Clinton on GMA:

Over at Dispatches from the Culture War, we learn that in addition to not "winning" the war (I'm still waiting for a definition of what winning would look like, btw), some of our "America is a Christian Nation" troops are spending their time/energies trying to CONVERT THE ISLAMIC

I'm SO comforted by the fact that our President has an MBA, and comes to the job with a business background...Via Daily Kos, we learn that

Author Wm. C. Shelton explains in detail how Dubya’s lowest presidential approval rating in history is not his reason for rating our present leader the “Worst Ever”:

Well, I have been put in my place. Here I thought we had a complete asshole for president, insensitive to the welfare of the troops he has needlessly put in harm’s way in Iraq. Silly me.

Some of you may have known this, but I just found out that George W. Bush has given up GOLF as a sign of solidarity with the soldiers and their families. He hasn’t played since 2003.

What a guy. What a man. What sacrifice!

You can read all about it here.

As I sit here, I find something eerily similar between the Clinton campaign and what can now only be called the Reverend Wright campaign. Both seem to operate from the view that if they don't get what they want, they get to ruin it for the other guy.

Wednesday, while campaigning in poverty-ridden towns in Kentucky, John McCain voiced his opposition to a Senate bill that would have made it easier for working women to sue for pay discrimination.

Said he, "I am all in favor of pay equity for women, but this kind of legislation, as is typical of what's being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems. This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system."

Well, gee. We certainly wouldn’t want government to play a greater role in protecting the American people, would we? After all, government's job is to play a greater role in protecting big business. (Note that in recent weeks McCain has proposed new tax breaks for corporations.)
